Why Is It Preferable To Use Supplements Rather Than Pills?

Most people like to take their supplements in pill form. Although some companies offer powder and liquid forms, the majority of the time we turn to pills for convenience. We all have our reasons why we prefer one over the other, but it’s important that you know what both sides are saying before making a decision on your own.

  • Pills

Pills may be easier to swallow than powders or liquids because they’re already pre-packaged into small capsules so there’s no need for water or mixing with food. They also dissolve more quickly which can be helpful when taking them at certain times of day, such as before bedtime where sleep is very important. There are some downsides to using pills though — they can cause nausea if taken on an empty stomach, and some individuals just don’t like having medicine-like substances in their bodies.

  • Powders

Powders are the most commonly used type of supplement because they’re easy to ingest and inexpensive to produce. By adding them to a glass of juice or water they can easily be consumed and the flavor adds a little flavor to what would otherwise be a bland, watery drink. One of the biggest downsides to powders is their bad taste — many users struggle with drinking them because they’re not easy on the palate, and some people even need a blender to mix them into smoothies or other foods in order to get their daily intake.

  • Liquid

Liquid supplements are the most expensive and least popular of the three, but they’re also considered to be the best for overall absorption. The main reason why companies don’t offer more liquid forms is because it takes a lot of work and money to create them. They can also be unappealing to children or those who just won’t drink something that looks like juice. That being said, the liquid versions are easy to take and leave no aftertaste. The biggest downside is that they can be absorbed too quickly and cause an upset stomach if taken on an empty stomach.

Now that we’ve heard all three side by side, I think it’s pretty clear which one has the greatest benefits. Liquid supplements are highly effective and hardly store any fat, but they’re also the most expensive and time-consuming to produce. The powder versions come in second because of their low cost and high effectiveness, as well as all of the flavors that can be added to them. With that being said, pills still have a place in today’s market and can be a great time saver if you’re on the go.

3 Biggest Supplements

If you’re an athlete or just a gym rat, you’ve probably taken at least one of these before – either for better athletic performance or simply to enhance your physique. Keep in mind though that everything beyond this point is speculation, and there are no guarantees of any supplements working.

  1. Creatine  is a compound naturally found in the body, and it stores high-energy phosphate groups in the form of phosphocreatine. The idea is that supplementation with creatine can raise levels beyond normal, and this should improve physical performance. It’s well established that creatine supplementation has the ability to improve physical performance, though it’s less clear whether this translates into actual performance in competition – nevertheless, creatine use is virtually universal among competitive athletes
  2. Protein  is made up of amino acids, and these acids consist of both essential and nonessential varieties. The most important amino acids are the essential amino acids (EAAs) that cannot be synthesized by the body in adequate amounts, and they must therefore come from food sources. Insufficient dietary protein intake results in lower muscle mass and strength gains compared to higher intakes, but don’t go overboard with the servings (3-4 per day should suffice for most people).
  3. Caffeine  is the most widely used psychoactive drug on earth, and it’s also a potent ergogenic aid. It has been shown to improve both mental and physical performance. The effect you’ll feel depends on your tolerance, but for most people just 100-200mg of caffeine is enough to notice effects such as increased power output and effectiveness.

Let’s be honest, it’s a lot easier to swallow an enticing berry-flavored supplement than struggle with the bitter taste of pills. But there are some other reasons you may want to consider using supplements over pills as well. One main reason is length of use. Supplements can last for up to two years whereas many medications have expiration dates that range from six months to one year after opening . Another key difference between these products lies in their ingredients. In general, supplements provide more active ingredients per dose and contain no artificial preservatives or coloring agents which means they’re better suited for those who suffer from food allergies or sensitivities.
